Sinningia ‘Crushed Velvet’ is a highly desirable hybrid created from Sinningia bullata and Sinningia leucotricha, combining the best traits of both parents. This exceptional plant is grown primarily for its thick, deeply bullate leaves covered in dense, silver-white velvet hairs, giving a dramatic crushed-velvet texture.
The plant grows from a subterranean tuber, producing a compact rosette of sculpted foliage. Under good conditions, it may also produce tubular Sinningia-type flowers, but the foliage remains the main attraction. The overall appearance is bold, architectural, and extremely tactile—making it a standout in any rare plant or caudiciform collection.
Growth is seasonal, with active growth during warm months and partial to full dormancy during cooler or drier periods.

Sensitive to frost and cold drafts
Enjoys moderate humidity with good airflow
Dormancy
May go partially or fully dormant in cooler seasons
