Plum Satluj Purple Aloo Bukhara Variety Grafted Fruit Plant

Product Features and Variety

The Satluj Purple Plum, a variety of Japanese plum (Prunus salicina) and commonly known as Aloo Bukhara, is a high-yielding fruit plant. This is a Grafted Plant/Tree, a technique used to ensure the plant bears fruit earlier and maintains the superior variety characteristics. The medium-vigour plant has an upright growth habit and is well-suited for cultivation across most Indian climates and soil types due to its low chilling requirement.

  • Variety: Satluj Purple Plum (Aloo Bukhara).
  • Type: Grafted Plant/Tree. Grafting promotes early fruiting.
  • Size: 1.5–3 Feet Height.
  • Pollination: It is a self-unfruitful variety and requires a pollinizer (such as Kala Amritsari Plum) to ensure maximum fruit set and yield.
  • Suitability: Thrives in almost all Indian climates and is excellent for both ground planting and container gardening.

The Fruit: Satluj Purple Plum

  • Appearance: Fruits are medium to large (approx. 25–30g), roundish, with thick skin that turns deep crimson or purple when fully ripe.
  • Flesh and Taste: Features firm, yellow-orange flesh. It is known for its sweet flavor with low acidity, making it highly desirable.
  • Harvest: It is an early ripening variety, typically ready for harvest in the first week of May.
  • Culinary Use: Perfect for fresh eating, as well as for processing into jams, squashes, and desserts.

Essential Care Guide

Sunlight and Soil Needs

  • Sunlight: Requires full and direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day for optimal growth and fruit production.
  • Soil: Plant in deep, fertile, and well-draining loamy soil. A soil pH range of 5.5 to 6.5 is considered ideal. Avoid waterlogged conditions.

Watering and Maintenance

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods, ensuring deep watering for root development. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out completely between waterings.
  • Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer during the growing season to support healthy development and fruiting.
  • Pruning: Annual pruning is essential to shape the tree, remove dead or diseased branches, and open the canopy to allow sufficient sunlight and air circulation.

The secure paper core packing method used for shipping ensures the plant is protected and well-ventilated during transit, ensuring you receive a healthy, genuine variety plant.
