Red Chandan, also known as Red Sandalwood or Rakta Chandan, is a premium and highly valuable aromatic tree known for its deep red heartwood, used in Ayurvedic medicine, skincare, pooja items, natural dyes, and high-value timber. This variety is admired for its rich color, strong therapeutic properties, and excellent long-term value. The plant grows steadily and develops into a beautiful ornamental tree, suitable for pots during early years and later for gardens, farms, and spiritual spaces. Healthy nursery plants ensure fast establishment, strong root development, and high-quality heartwood formation as the tree matures. To keep it thriving: Maintain temperature between 20°C to 38°C. Provide 5-7 hours of direct sunlight daily. Water 1-2 times a week, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings. Use well-drained red or sandy loam soil enriched lightly with compost. Plant near a host plant (like pigeon pea, lemon, or neem) because Red Chandan is semi-parasitic. Feed sparingly every 45-60 days with mild organic fertilizer. Keep the base free from weeds to avoid nutrient competition. Apply neem oil monthly to prevent leaf pests and fungal issues.
