Native to Brazil, it belongs to the Cactaceae family and is a epiphytic or lithophytic plant, meaning it can grow on trees or rocks in its natural habitat. The cactus gets its common name "Dancing Bones" from its long, tubular, jointed stems that resemble a chain of bones or beads. Dancing Bones Cactus is a popular ornamental houseplant, prized for its unusual appearance and easy care requirements. It prefers bright, indirect light and can tolerate some morning or evening sunlight, but it should be protected from intense midday sun, as it can scorch the plant. The cactus should be watered moderately during its growing season (spring and summer), allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. During the plant's resting period (fall and winter), watering should be reduced to prevent overwatering and root rot. Dancing Bones Cactus can benefit from occasional misting or placing a tray of water nearby to increase humidity levels, especially in dry indoor environments.
